Water Insects

Synopsis

Shows the ways in which insects have evolved to conquer new environments. Shows examples of species that have taken to living on the surface of the water,; the semi-aquatic insects that live beneath the surface but which have to come to the surface to obtain air, and fully aquatic insect larvae and nymphs that obtain their oxygen from the water itself. Ends with sequences showing the transition of the latter from aquatic to aerial life, as juvenile forms become adult.
