Voyager

Synopsis
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory proposed a mission in the 1960s to send spacecraft to the giant outer planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. In 1977 Voyagers 1 & 2 were launched. The leading spacecraft arrived in Saturn in late 1980 and the second in the summer of 1981, after having encountered Jupiter in 1979. Voyager 2 then proceeded to Uranus in 1986 and is now on course for Neptune (expected arrival 1989). Photographs and computer graphics show Voyager’s findings.
