- Synopsis
- Series of four videos investigating the anatomy, physiology and dissection procedures of the common vertebrates used in biology teaching in schools and colleges. Designed to be used both as a resource to support practical work and as an alternative to the use of animals in education. Each video covers external features, digestive system, urogenital system, circulatory system, nervous system, the skeleton.
1: The dogfish ‘Scyliorhinus canicula’.
2: The frog ‘Rana temporaria’.
3: The pigeon ‘Columba livia’. The film places birds in the context of vertebrate evolution and describes the external features of a (live) pigeon. Shows the external features of a (dead) pigeon, and the flight musculature dissected. Discusses the various systems.
