Bitis Arietans (Viperidae) - Catching Prey and Swallowing

Synopsis
At normal speed and in slow motion the film shows mice being caught by young and adult puff adders by poisonous bites. Immediately after biting them, the snakes grasp the small prey until they gulp them down. Larger mice are released by young vipers immediately after the bite. The puff adders then follow their tracks by the sense of smell. Partly swallowed prey which is too large is regurgitated. The film goes on to show how a young and an adult puff adder swallow their prey. An Encyclopaedia Cinematographica film.
