Synopsis
Follows the primary settlement and secondary biological treatment of sewage from a small town in the west of Scotland, using the activated sludge process. Describes the organisms in activated sludge are shown and some of the effects of sewage effluent on the natural communities of animals in the receiving stream. Discusses the analysis of effluent quality, specially using BOD determinations.
