Transylvania

Synopsis
Once known only as the haunt of vampires and Count Dracula, Transylvania emerged in 1989 from 40 years of Communist rule with a legacy of environmanal and human nightmres from the worst excesses of communist rule under, most recently, Nicolae Ceausescu. Explores the present problems and likely future of the region through the lives of some of its residents, including a doctor in the ‘black town’ of Copsa Mica, where a carbon-processing factory has caused houses, plants and people to turn black and appears to be the cause of premture births.
