Diagrams show the importance of meconium staining before rupture of the membranes in the early detection of foetal distress. The apparatus and technique is shown in detail. Typical amnioscopic appearances are shown, and the reasons for timing the procedure are given. Clinical indications for performing amnioscopy are included.
