Teaching Videocassette 2
- Synopsis
- Band 1: Examines the relationship between stellar structure and nuclear physics.
Band 2: Shows the tandem accelerator at Caltech, California which is used to recreate stellar conditions in order to obtain these measurements.
Band 3: Looks at the question ‘how does the spiral galaxy maintain its shape rather than wind up and disintegrate?' and uses computer graphics to demonstrate an answer, with a computer simulation of a collision between two galaxies.
Band 4: Dr Barrie Jones presents advanced computer animation sequences to describe Kepler’s laws of planetary motion.
Band 5: Uses photographs from space and computer-enhanced simulations to show the atmospheres of entire planets in motion, comparing Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and the Earth. - Series

- NB. As of May 2016 Open University Worldwide are no longer distributing DVDs. They have posted this message on their website: ‘Unfortunately Open University Worldwide Limited has decided that product sales are no longer viable given the reduced funding to Higher Education institutions and diminishing demand for the products we have traditionally stocked. At present the Open University Students Association (OUSA) will continue to sell the "Good Study Guide", and we are in discussion with other possible distributors to continue to make The Open University’s products available for purchase. As soon as we have any information on other channels of distribution we will update this notice’. Some products are still available via second hand dealers on Amazon.co.uk
