Talking to Children

Synopsis
Shows community paediatricians interviewing older primary school children. Extracts of the interviews are used to introduce the finer aspects of child and family interviewing. Looks at the skills of intervieweing: the form of question, reflecting back information, reinforcement and testing of answers. Notes the importance of messages of body language. Helps the viewer to be more readily able to engage a child and family and to feel more confident about obtaining information from them.
