Binding Love

Synopsis
A study of the self-mutilations which many women put themselves through to fit a male concept of the ideal woman. Shows processes of Chinese foot binding and Victorian corseting and the physical injury which results from such practices - ‘When the binding was released one or two toes might drop off from putrefaction’ or ‘sometimes the uterus would come out through the vagina from tightness of the corset’. A brief mention of the similar restraints such as bondage fashion is made.
