Surreally Scozzese
- Synopsis
- Enrico Scozzese, the son of immigrant Italians, was one of Scotland’s most unusual filmmakers. An academic, he pursued an ‘underground’ career making movies with amateur casts and crews. His ambitious, sometimes strange and surreal films are like no others of his generation. This is a documentary about the man and includes three of his films. CHICK’S DAY is a study of a juvenile delinquent, Chick, in Lanarkshire. Made as a silent film in 1950, this release includes the soundtrack added after 1951. PETROL is a short silent roadside drama made in 1957. NINE O’CLOCK (1951) is the story of a young man’s last few hours before he commits suicide.
