Style Tribes (6 Parts)

Synopsis
Series examining the image-making process in style-conscious industries.
1: Focuses on three aspects of design innovation - environment, trend and consultancy. Features leading British designers, trend gurus, and design groups responsible for everything from movie title sequences to nightclub interiors. Shows cutting-edge design and also looks at the pervasiveness of design in every aspect of modern life.
2: Focuses on the work of British designer Anthony Symonds as he assembles his collection for the February 2000 London Fashion Week. Also features the work of fabric manufacturers, accessories designers and photographers, along with fashion students at Central St Martin’s College in London. Produced by Maya Vision.
3: Looks at the process of developing, funding, producing and distributing a British film, at a very bouyant time for the industry. Features former head of Polygram Michael Kuhn, director John Madden, Jude Law, Peter Hweitt and Duncan Kenworthy. Produced by Clark Facilities.
4: Features leading acts signed to EMI, Skint, Beggars’ Banquet and Jeepster, and also includes David Bowie and pop band Bush. Produced by Green Inc.
5: Focuses on English Premier League football club West Ham to examine both the sporting and commercial aspects of football in an age when television has completely changed the character of the game, placing it on the international stage. Features up-and-coming footballers alongside stars such as England manager Kevin Keegan. Produced by Aimimage (broadcast on C5 on 26/3/01).
6: Features three diverse tourist venues in the UK, each of which has adopted a unique strategy to draw visitors: Warwick Castle is managed in the style of a history theme park; Cavern City Tours has sold Beatles tours to thousands of Americans, and Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh is a high-tech exhibition trying to sell science to the heritage market.
