Synopsis
BBC correspondent Fergal Keane travels around Britain listening to the stories of ordinary people who find themselves on the fringes of society and surviving on limited means. He begins in Glasgow, among the shipyard workers of Govan, who are fighting to save their jobs. He talks to heorin addicts in Leeds, tenant farmers in north Wales, London’s elderly poor, and a nurse in Cornwall whose family history encapsulates the century’s struggle.
