Stealth Technology

Synopsis
Examines how the F-117 Stealth aircraft and the B-2 bomber were designed to pass undetected through radar barriers. Shows how the smallest possible radar cross-section can make a plane ‘invisible’ and how placing the flat sides at certain angles deflects incoming radar waves. Shows how the engines were set deep in the plane, the tail section shields exhaust gases, and the fuselage is covered with radar-absorbing material. Also looks at the diffusion of electromagnetic waves over curved surfaces.
