- We all need the ‘E. coli’ bacterium, but a virulent form, ‘E. coli’ 0157, recently struck a group in Roberton, a village in the Scottish Borders, killing 20 people. Looks at the history of ‘E. coli’ and its different varieties, discusses the bacterial transfer from animals to humans. and the spread and growth of ‘E-coli’ 0157. Examines possible sources of the Roberton outbreak and looks at the laboratory investigator’s work to confirm cases of ‘E. coli’ 0157 infection. Looks at the history and possible future of deadly microbes.
