Synopsis
Looks at the daily lives of eight 17th-century women writers and the range of issues that concernd them, including midwifery, the plight of the poor under Cromwellian rule, and the battle against the ‘natural’ inferiority of women. Includes readings from their work and discussions with leading women exprets discussing each writer’s work and the social context.. The writers featured are Jane Sharp, Anna Trapnel, Mary Astell, Delarivier Manley, Margaret Fell, Hannah Woolley, Celia Fiennes and Margaret Cavendish.
