Snowball Earth

Synopsis
Traces the history and evolutionary implications of a controversial theory by which the earth was covered in ice up to a kilometre thick for millions of years. Attempts to prove and disprove it include discussion of continental drift, nuclear winter and irreversible icing over, the magnetic properties of rocks, volcanos and carbon dioxide, the greenhouse effect, photosynthesis and ice formation.
