Benn Tapes, The

Synopsis
Each night for over 25 years, Tony Benn, the Labour MP and former Secretary of State, dictated on to tape his account of the daily events at the heart of government, unburdening himself of the pressure and stress, trials and tribulations of government and opposition with accounts which veer from anecdotal to almost confessional. This selection covers political events such as Harold Wilson’s surprise resignation, the Windscale strike in 1977, the year-long miners’ strike in 1984, and the 1992 general election.
