Benin Kingship Ritual

Synopsis
The rulers of Benin in Nigeria, the Oba, traditionally spend much of their time performing rituals designed to enhance their own power and the prosperity of their subjects. This film record of the rituals includes their greatest event, the Igwe Festival, in which the divine powers of the Oba are renewed. The rituals are performed slightly modified.
