1: Early scenes from the play. Emphasis is on the play as theatre, a text designed for actors and audiences. Shows Faustus’ temptation, his conjuring and encounter with Mephistophiles, and the comic parallel scene with Wagner and the clown.
2: The final scenes from the play, including the magical appearance of Helen of Troy, Faustus’ failed attempt to repent, his final tormented soliloquy, and the concluding chorus.
