Road, The

Synopsis
Traces the history of the evolution of the English road since its prehistoric beginnings - from the time when the Ridgeway Path was the trunk route between the Bristol and English Channels; through the Roman and medieval periods, the latter with its great droving roads, via the age of the military, parliamentary and coaching roads and, finally, to the motorways, and ‘spaghetti junctions’ of today.
