Regions Apart?

Synopsis: Looks at the changing character of two regions in the UK, the North East and the South East, and shows how these regions related to the world economy at the end of the 19th century and how they are now locked into a very different and increasingly complex international economy. The example used is that of Japanese investment, using Nissan in the North East and Nomura Securities in the South East. The two regions, which were to a large extent interconnected at the end of the last century, now relate to the global economy in very different ways.
