Rainer Werner Fassbinder, 1977

Synopsis

Interviews with Fassbinder, conducted mainly by the film critic Florian Hopf in 1977. The close relationship which Hopf and Fassbinder had built up over many years is evident in the uncommon frankness of the interviews. In the first interview Fassbinder relates very personal details; in the second he concentrates on technical and artistic aspects of film-making as well as film policy. The interviews are separated by film excerpts: BAAL (1969), WARNUNG VOR EINER HEILIGEN NUTTE (1970) and Fassbinder producing DESPAIR - EINE REISE INS LICHT (1977).
