Quiet Rage: The Stanford Prison Experiment

Subtitle
Stanford prison experiment, The
Synopsis
Documents the landmark 1971 study on the power of social situations in which Dr Philip Zimbardo created a mock prison, randomly dividing a group of students into two groups - prisoners and guards. Shows how the behaviour of each group rapidly conformed to its assigned role. Includes updated footage of Dr Zimbardo escorting a group of current college students through the mock prison. The colour footage fades to black and white as original archival footage takes viewers through the chronology of this experiment, which had to be terminated after only six days. The video concludes with post-experimental interviews with prisoners and guards, as well as scenes of actual prisons.
