Synopsis
A journalist’s guide to the laws of libel, using examples of high-profile libel cases to examine various issues including: what makes a statement defamatory?; the importance of whom the statement refers to; what exactly has to be proved, and what does not, in order to win a libel case?; what are the defences that can be used against libel? Part 2 follows a reporter covering a specially filmed news story, and is arranged in segments to stimulate discussion.
