Prediction of Wind Loads
- Synopsis
- Concerned with buildings that are ‘wind-sensitive’ because of shape, size, location and relationship to nearby structures. Points out that such buildings are not covered by the BS Code of Practice and, taking the proposed new Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow as an example, shows how wind-tunnel testing is used to predict design loads. Stresses the need to consider the various stages of the development and describes the technique for obtaining pressure readings and the flow patterns of the pitch.*
