Plague on You, A

Synopsis
Draws on evidence from both press and television to show how the media has promoted and reinforced the prejudice of ‘homophobia’, especially at a time when there is widepread concern at the spread of AIDS. Shows how the media reporting of the AIDS issue tends to emotionalise and distort rather than inform, with constant references to ‘plague’ and ‘scourge’. Against the media rhetoric, consultants, doctors and representatives of the gay community explain what impact such distortions have had.
