Synopsis
Discusses the formation of the Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESA) scheme in which MAFF works with farmers and landowners to protect those areas of England where the landscape, wildlife and historic interest are of national importance. Describes three areas, the Norfolk Broads, the Pennine Dales and West Penwith. The success of the scheme has led to the designation of further ESAs in the UK.
