Origins and History of Life
- Synopsis
- Describes the events occurring after the earth was formed: the origin of life, and the subsequent evolution of the main taxa of organisms. Discusses prebiotic chemical evolution, the origin and nature of the first prokaryotes, the origin of eucaryotic cells and the endosymbiotic evolution of their organelles. A time chart allows the exploration of the main events during the diversification of both prokaryotes and eucaryotes, in particular multicellularity, the Cambrian explosion, the invasion of land and mass extinctions. Approximately three hours of teaching material.
