- Synopsis
- The Brent field is used to investigate the nature and origin of csource rocks, how oil is generated, and how the timing of generation and migration are evalutated. Deposition: Discusses depositional processes leading to the preservation of organic matter with reference to the Kimmeridge clay, including outcrop footage. Outlines the nature of organic matter present. Maturation: Burial of sediment and maturation; observational methods (vitrinite reflectance, sport colouration) and thermal modelling. Migration: Migration effects seen at outcrop at Osmington Mills; primary and seconddary migraiton; the Brent migration. The reservoir: Brief treatment of porosity/permeability, seal, facies distribution, reservoir alternation processes.
