Synopsis
The INSIDE BRITISH POLITICS series of seven programmes was compiled from an archive of material recorded by Granada Television since 1971. The presenter, the late John Mackintosh, was Professor of Politics at the University of Edinburgh and MP for Berwick and East Lothian. This programme deals with the story of Dick Taverne, a Labour MP who was rejected by his constituency party. He was in favour of voting for Britain’s entry into the Common Market - the Conservative line. Shows the relationship between MPs and their party members in the constituency they represent.
