Synopsis
For thousands of years scientists knew of only two types of carbon: diamond and graphite. In 1990 a third form of carbon, buckminsterfullerene, C60, was discovererd and has revolutionised chemistry. Tells the story of its discovery, in which a key participant was Harry Kroto of the University of Sussex, who was subsequently knighted and awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1996.
