Synopsis
A detailed ethnographic study of the Miao tribe, who practice shifting agriculture, in northern Thailand. Shows details of Miao ritual, the cultivation of agricultural produce (maize, rice and the opium poppy) and the techniques used in batik, weaving, embroidery and the making of silver jewellery.
