- Synopsis
- Both Episodes Of The 1978 Portraits Of Power television series produced by the New York Times on the life and history of Mao Tse Tung. Concentrates on Mao after he became the effective ruler of China in 1949. Footage includes Red Guard rallies during the Cultural Revolution, backyard steel furnaces and mass mobilisation during the land reform. Most of the commentary is given by Harrison Salisbury which gives a valuable focus on Soviet/Chinese relations.
