- Support video for course B751, in five parts: 1) Making Sense of Management: introduces the work of middle managers in two organisations, British Airways plc and Whilrpool Corporation. Also includes observations and discussions from leading academics and consultants on management and organisations; 2) Interpersonal Interactions: looks at two separate management transactions preceded and followed by statements from the participants about their intentions, concerns, views, etc. The first is concerned with a classic performance issue - a senion manager wants to improved the performance of one of his managers in a particular respoect. In the second a senion manager wishes to generate a discussion about the career implications of performance data generated by an assessment process.

- 3) Team Building: features two team situations - a voluntary ‘out of hours’ team of health service professionals based at a charitable trust in London, and an international group of executives from Whirlpool plc, a global domestic appliance company, involved in a team-building programme in Paris; 4) Charting Change: shows how diagramming techniques can be used in practice. Diagrams are applied to activities carried out in a business located in a marina. Suggests ways in which diagrams can be used to describe a diagnose a situation. 5) Manage That Change: follows an attempt by a traditional local authority in the UK to respond to externally imposed governmental pressures and public expectations for enhanced quality, choice and customer care with no additional funding. Shows how OD approaches were used to shift staff parceptions and management styles in a radical way.
