Living with Dying

Synopsis
Looks at what the hospice philosophy of ‘better care for the dying’ means in everyday life, showing the treatment of the terminally ill at the NHS Countess Mountbatten Hospice near Southampton. Staff aim to find a meeting point between care-giver, patient and family so that they can all come to grips with the pain suffered, both physically and emotionally. The overall emphasis is on allowing people to maintaim as normal a life as possible and to die without pain and with the maximum of dignity.
