Art of Asymptotic Approximation, The

Synopsis
Recording of a lecture given by Professor F G Leppington as part of the London Mathematical Society’s Popular Lecture Series. In many mathematical problems the equations contain a small number called a parameter. An asymptotic estimate is an approximation when this number becomes smaller and smaller. These ideas are described with reference to a simple cubic equation and a differential equation.
