Investigation of Gluconeogenesis
- Synopsis
- A realistic experiment simulation which replaces the sacrifice of rats. Includes video clips of key stages of an actual expermient, which involves manipulation of kidney sections while washing, weighing and incubating them. measurements are made of glucose synthesis from different substrates in slices from fed and unfed rats. Important points are explained using animations of the pathways of gluconeogenesis. Students perform calculations, graph results and write a report.
