Introduction to Skinner Releasing Technique, An
- Synopsis
- Joan Skinner pioneered release work in the United States in the 1960s, having been a member of the Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham dance companies. The principles of the Skinner Releasing Technique now inform the work of many contemporary dancers. In London in the autumn of 1996, Joan Skinner ran an international residency on this technique of integrating the mind/body complex in the act of dancing. This video is a record of some of the work that occurred. It is the first time that such a record has been made available in the UK.
