Architecture Engraved: 300 Years of Architectural Prints
- Synopsis
- This exhibition of British architectural prints focused on single issue prints, with work by J L Wolfe, R L Roumieu, Robert Adam, Edward Blore, C R Cockerell, etc. The material is drawn from sources including advertisements and prospectuses; trade prints such as James Clephan’s overhead ‘London Railway’ of about 1845; prints for fundraising, such as Emmett’s print of St Paul’s; and antiquarian prints. The prints were produced for celebrations, disasters and other events, and as print-sellers’ and stationers’ commodities.
