Influence of Magnetic and Electric Fields on Atomic Spectra, The
- Synopsis
- The directional characteristics of atomic orbital is explained in terms of the interaction between the resultant orbital angular momentum (or magnetic moment) and an externally applied magnetic field. A series of new energy states is created in the presence of a magnetic or electric field, and the modified energy diagram used to interpret the spectra taken under these conditions.
