Finding, Clearing and Editing Moving Image Media for Education

This one-day course will guide participants through the many sources of moving image and sound for educational use including radio and television broadcasts and online materials. It will also explore the copyright implications of using moving image and sound materials in teaching and learning both on- and off-campus.
Those attending will participate in a practical session on how to compile and use video and audio materials in lectures, seminars and electronic resources.
This one day course will include discussions of:
- Copyright and educational use of moving image and sound
- TV, Radio and Off-Air Recordings, including the BUFVC services Box of Broadcasts (BoB) and TRILT (Television and Radio Index for Learning and Teaching)
- Editing moving image and sound for use on the web (including in a VLE) and Powerpoint presentations
- BUFVC databases including BUND (British Universities Newsreels Database) and HERMES
- Online sound and image resources for education
- Independent radio archives broadcasts available via BUFVC
