- This report, which was prepared for Ofcom by Kantar Media, studies the attitude and behaviour of those who use applications (apps), the impact of apps on their lives and any issues they consider relevant. The study concentrates on those using smartphones, tablets, mp3 players and Smart TVs, covering the
Android, Apple iOS, Windows, and BlackBerry
smart device operating systems. The findings conclude that users believe apps to be safer than browsers, that official app stores play a role in monitoring content. Other topics discussed include the use of ‘in-app’ purchasing, the use of parental controls, the role of apps and OSs in smart device purchases; the use and impact of apps; and views on redress and regulation.
