Description
The collection of films consists of items acquired by, commissioned by or presented to the City, primarily relating to various activities such as the Port and the former Health Department, and special occasions in Bristol. Over 300 films dating from between 1902 and 1980, mostly of Bristol and the surrounding area. A number of civic ceremonies, royal visits, wartime bomb damage and public works. The collection is added to at irregular intervals.

Access available. Mon-Thu 09.30-16.45, strictly by arrangement only. Staff are available to a limited degree. Access for disabled.

Conservation policy
It is the policy of the Record Office to offer the National Film and Television Archive any nitrate films from which safety copies have been made; if not required by the NFTVA they are junked.
