WORLD BACKGROUNDS (part of KINOLIBARY)
- Description
- World Backgrounds is now exclusively available through Kinolibrary. World Backgrounds’ vast and rare collection of 35mm film rushes span the globe from 1960 to 2000 and contains almost 40,000 shots and films. The collection is in the process of being digitised to dazzling 4K quality and available as a rich resource for programme makers.
Footage ranges from pre-Revolutionary Iran and 80s Berlin, to glorious travels round Singapore and Saudi Arabia, via a night-time walk through swinging 60s Soho. Films from the USA feature a gritty drive through 70s Brooklyn, a sunny stroll in 60s Greenwich Village, a holiday to Honolulu and a helicopter-ride over Beverly Hills, as well as body builders and breakdancers on Venice Beach and cowboys on a cattle ranch. Other highlights include fabulous compilations of 70s disco, Formula 1, and extensive outtakes from the 1969 film ‘Battle of Britain’, complete with stunning recreations of spitfire dogfights, cockpit views and RAF formations in the sunset. Shot using original WW2 fighter planes, this unique and irreplaceable footage has to be seen.
The collection is only available from Kinolibrary, so please contact us to hear more or explore screeners. - Website
