WOMEN IN JAZZ / JAZZ HERITAGE WALES

Description
Formerly known as the The Women’s Jazz Archive, this registered Charitable Trust (number 1068022) was established in Swansea in 1986 by pianist and historian Jen Wilson.

The Jazz Collection comprises many thousands of audio/visual records, photographs, journals and periodicals, a growing library, paintings, stained glass windows, stage gowns etc. Donations have come from the estates of the broadcaster Dr. Barry Stern and vocalist Beryl Bryden. Beryl Bryden who was presented with both Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday awards, is also part of Women in Jazz’s Oral History Collection. A selection of stage gowns was presented by Blanche Finlay, together with her Oral History.
