STV FILM & VIDEOTAPE LIBRARY (formerly SCOTTISH TELEVISION FILM & VIDEOTAPE LIBRARY)

Description: STV has held the ITV franchise for Central Scotland since 1957. In 1997 STV took over Grampian Television who had held the North of Scotland ITV franchise from 1961. The library is responsible for the storage and cataloguing of all programme output and archive content; footage sales, and the processing of commercial advertisements and acquired content.

Video components: VHS Video, hi-band U-Matic, lo-band U-Matic, Beta/Beta-SP, 1-inch Video, 2-inch Video, D2, DigiBeta, DV tape.
Film: 4,000 cans. Transmission copies of all complete programmes. 90% colour film, 10% black and white film.
Film components: 16mm, Super 16, 35mm, positive film, negative film, fine grain print, effects mix, final mix, still images (production / promotion).
Digital video: digital storage for born-digital video content and material digitised from analogue sources.

Notes: Bespoke database allowing access to a variety of fixed fields or free-text retrieval. Internal Media Asset Management system used by the company allows access to some digital content
Other information: Shotlists from computerised database are supplied via email as part of our basic research facility.
Conservation policy: All complete programmes and selected camera original material retained.
