Description
Reuters Television, the international news agency, provides a daily syndicated news service to more than 400 broadcasters in 84 countries. The agency is jointly owned by Reuters, NBC and the BBC. A network of cameramen, staff and stringers, numbering approximately 400, works for Reuters Television throughout the world. In addition, Reuters
Television has access to all news material shot by its owner-organisations. Special arrangements also exist for acquiring news material from television organisations in Africa, Eastern and Western Europe, South America, China, Japan and elsewhere. All this material, together with that from other sources, ultimately finds its way into the Reuters Television Library. In addition to its own archives, the Library holds several newsreel libraries and special interest collections.

Users must register in order to search, preview and download content.

NB From 1 April 2018 British Pathé (qv separate entry) also represents the Reuters historical collection, which includes more than 120,000 items from Reuters-owned news agencies Gaumont Graphic (1910-1932), Empire News Bulletin (1926-1930), British Paramount (1931-1957), and Gaumont British (1934-1959), as well as Visnews content from 1957 to the end of 1979. All footage can be viewed on the British Pathé website.
