- The collection is composed of 8mm, 9.5mm and 16mm film and video material from the 1920s to the present day. Completed programmes on transportation and other subjects are held together with stock footage on related subjects. Completed programmes on aviation, liquor licensing (public houses, etc), rural and urban planning and design, and shipping interests. Shipping includes paddle steamers, cross channel ferries, excursion ships, hovercraft (including last day of cross-channel operation), liners (including pre-war cruise liner Bremen) and Southampton Docks in the 1930s, showing visiting liners and general dock workings. Aviation material includes early Biplane airliner flight to Paris from Croydon Airport, air shows going back to the 1950s, flights in World War II aircraft and flights in Concorde and extensive footage of Concorde. Buildings include black and white 16mm film of London, Paris and River Thames in the late 1930s and video of rural and urban locations in the UK, Paris, Venice and the USA.
