NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY LIBRARY

Description
The Film Collection is housed in the County Central Library in Morpeth. It comprises over 3,000 books and an archive of periodicals on all aspects of the cinema; actors, directors, production, scripts, social and political history, world cinema, genres, theory and criticism. Some screen plays are also acquired. The collection provides an opportunity to read in depth about film. As far as can be ascertained there is no other public collection like the Teeside Film Collection in the UK (The British Film Institute considers it has no parallel elsewhere in Britain). Its scope includes all significant work published in the UK. The collection is divided into 10 areas and has its own classification scheme to make it more user friendly.
